MLA Brittny Anderson says students at College of the Rockies will benefit from more co-op and work-integrated learning opportunities

CRESTON– New Democrat MLA Brittny Anderson says students at College of the Rockies will have greater access to valuable learning opportunities with new co-op and work-integrated learning funding.

“Attending a B.C. college doesn’t mean just getting an education, it means practical, on the ground experience for students,” said MLA Anderson. “I’m really excited to see College of the Rockies working towards creating even more connections between their students and local employers, with a special focus on women in the trades. This work will help fill employment gaps, reduce stress, and build our communities.”

College of the Rockies will receive nearly $80,000 to support co-op implementation in new program areas.

This one-time funding will expand co-op and work-integrated learning programs, and focus on placements in sectors impacted by the pandemic. In total, 47 projects are being funded at all 25 public post-secondary institutions in B.C, creating up to 3,000 new co-op and work-integrated learning placements for students.

Investing in an economy that works for everyone is part of the New Democrat government’s plan to build back a stronger B.C.
